NFF TEN: ‘Traversing Electronic Narratives’ focuses on the diversity and ingenuity of the media arts scene in Vancouver, and how it speaks to the greater world of art today.  Strictly working with locally based artists in Vancouver, the exhibition tells a narrative involving video, sound, sensors, mobility, location, interactivity, participation, diversity and history.  Looking at work developed in Vancouver over the past 10 years, the exhibition speaks to both the development of the media arts scene in Vancouver over that period of time as well as how this relates to the greater history of the city during this period.  Themes of change, location, surveillance, exploration, myth, travel and meditation take us from direct documentation and stories about the land where the exhibition takes place, to journeys of physics far beyond the confines of the exhibition.  At its core Traversing Electronic Narratives is a story of growth, experimentation and the multiplicity of artistic experiences that play a role in media arts today.
